Our Sustainability Strategy

Our ambition and policy

As a family business, sustainable entrepreneurship is an integral part of our business operations. One of our four core values is ‘Focused on the Future’ and sustainability has been high on our agenda since 2011. This is an integral part of our strategy, and we publish our progress in the field of CSR annually. Our ambition is to be a frontrunner in sustainability and the most sustainable meat and convenience company in the Benelux!

Corporate sustainability is a continuous process. This does not happen overnight but requires continuous work and attention. For this reason, we pursue a concrete, pragmatic sustainability policy, which is supported by the entire organisation. This affects all aspects of our business operations and allows us to proactively realise our sustainability objectives as well as those of our customers.

Our sustainability policy consists of four pillars:

Double materiality assessment and IRO process

We will review our materiality analysis at the end of 2023 based on the requirements of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). We will take a systematic approach to identifying the most important ESG and sustainability issues. The process for identifying and assessing impacts, risks, and opportunities (IROs) is as follows:

How does the dialogue take place?

We use a dynamic intranet called ‘Meatpoint’, narrowcasting and newsflashes to keep our employees informed. Structured discussions and feedback sessions between employees and their managers are held using the ‘The Good Conversation’ performance system. All companies within the Van Loon Group are represented in a works council. This serves as a platform for open dialogue and cooperation between management and employees. Management team and core team meetings with workshops are held periodically, and surveys on a variety of topics are conducted regularly. Employee satisfaction is measured using Effectory's ‘Pulse Surveys’, and we actively ask for feedback on our policy.
